Goal: $25,000 for Achieve Through Education to provide K-5th grade students from the Franklin Road community in Cobb County, GA with quality impact, small group literacy tutoring starting this summer. Out of the 51 children who have currently been selected to participate, 14 are from Spanish speaking families and an additional 8 are from families that speak a language other than English or Spanish in their home. While YELLS youth often face challenging circumstances, they come from hard-working families who want their children to succeed.  We need your help to ensure these deserving students receive the high quality academic support they need to excel!

So far, we have received $1,000 from Cobb EMC & $2,500 from Dollar General Literacy Foundation toward our $25,000 goal.

Impact on Quality of Life: Our literacy tutoring model has been proven effective in increasing reading skills that can help break the cycle of poverty that is perpetuated by poor scholastic performance. Children who consistently attend our tutoring programs not only develop a love of reading, but also improve their reading performance by an average of 20% in a three month period, as evidenced by ongoing and final evaluations. With your help, we will provide youth in need with intensiverigorous, and quality tutoring. By inspiring students to embrace reading, we help elevate children out of poverty, leading them to a more productive and independent life.

Read to Succeed Program: Each participating child will attend two, 1.5 hour small group literacy tutoring sessions per week. Your donation supports:

  • Qualified Instructors
  • Books for Students
  • Instructor Resources
  • Pre-and post-Test Materials to Measure Program and Tutoring Effectiveness

SAT/ACT PREP CLASSES

Our SAT/ACT Prep programs are for low-income students with high GPA (3.25 or above), but are unable to afford the extra prep needed for the best college’s minimums for standardized test scores. At Achieve Through Education, our first mission is educational support to improve your chances to exit the poverty cycle. We believe in putting every student at the best advantage they have to improve their lives and their families and future children’s lives. Breaking the cycle will last for generations and therefore reduce poverty.College entrance is highly competitive. High GPA’s are not enough.

The facts are there. Top performing graduating High School kids receive less assistance than the failing students. Charities address the needs of top students at a funding rate of less than 20% of all supplemental educational services combined. SAT and ACT prep is one of the most neglected educational support areas for High school students of  low income!

  • Group sessions of a maximum of 10:1
  • Saturdays 3 hr classes
  • Books provided.
  • $575 per student is needed to provide the teachers, books, and facility
  • Goal per campaign 25 students to initiate program
  • Any size donation is appreciated, Please consider sponsoring one or more students.
